Australia Post
Heathwood, QLD
Tendered
$5m +

Currently, the Heathwood Mail Distribution Facility is Australia Post’s largest mail delivery centre and contains administration offices as well as mail and parcel sorting facilities. These areas of the building contain suspended ceilings and fully air-conditioned and specialised lighting.

This project consisted of the complete fit out and refurbishment of a 16000m2 warehouse in to a purpose built mail delivery centre including significant mechanical and electrical services and structural works.  The main challenge was finishing the project in the scheduled 20 week program, particularly as there were significant equipment and materials coming from overseas which often causes significant timing problems because of shipping schedules and Customs delays. Items such as the Cat generator had to come from the United States, the air-conditioning chillers from Sweden and the suspended ceiling system from New Zealand.  The items sourced for overseas were due to the lack of suitable and certifiable product available within Australia – this was particularly the case with the suspended ceiling system, where one was not available that simply could span the distances required for the warehouse!

The project was delivered on time and the clients were extremely happy with the end result.
