This facility includes a Criminal Investigation Branch, administration facilities, conference and interview rooms, an exhibit store, two holding cells and amenities for officers including a meals room. Construction began on the project in November 2008 following a commitment made by the State Government in 2006, which earmarked the project as part of a four-year state-wide capital works plan. The majority of design consultants used on the project were in-house at Project Services, which led to a quick turn around of any contractual queries and an eagerness to help resolve any on-site construction issues.
There are two large in-ground storage tanks for catchment from the roof and car park run off. This water is then run through an extensive filtration system before being reused within the complex. Nicknamed the ‘circus tent’ by people within the Police force for its unique striped roof, the station has been highly anticipated. It will be the first CIB unit in the northwest of Brisbane outside of the large Boondall station.
The building was handed over on time with the end result being another first-rate facility that extended Badge’s strong working relationship with the Queensland Police Service.
